Samoan Adze

The 3D model on the right is a decimated* VRML model of a Samoan Adze created with the Minolta Vivid 700 non-contact laser digitizer. The point data was processed through the Polyworks modeling software.

The adze is currently being held at the Archaeology Materials Lab at NDSU. The 3D model was produced by Aaron Bergstrom.

To rotate models, place the cursor over the 3D area, then hold down the left mouse button as you move the cursor across the 3D area.

*A decimated model, is a 3D model that has been compressed so that many of the points/polygons have been eliminated in order to speed up rendering time and decrease file sizes while attempting to retain the overall shape and accuracy of the model.
